Symptoms To Notice Arthritis in The Knee

Arthritis in the knee is a condition in which the knee affects the cartilage, bones, and synovium inside the joints. The cartilage is a tissue found on the upper surface of the bones, and it helps in smoothing the joints.

Synovium is a soft tissue line around the joints and produces the fluid called synovial fluid it acts as a lubricant and helps in joint movement; it provides carbohydrates and nutrients to the cartilage.

As all these functions stop working and protecting the bones of the knee, bone damage occurs and results in a disorder called Osteoarthritis of the knee.

This condition can cause minor pain and stiffness at an earlier stage and can get severe with time if not treated.

The primary objectives of treating Osteoarthritis of the knee are to first to relieve the pain and increase flexibility in the knee. There is a typical plan for arthritis treatment that includes the combination of the following:

Pain relief and anti-inflammatory drugs:

Here, some Over the counter drugs can be given mainly a class of NSAIDs, for example,  Tylenol, Motrin, and Aleve; these drugs are not taken for more than 10 days without consulting your Doctor. The chance of side effects can increase while taking it for longer, and if they don’t provide relief, the concerned Doctor may give you a prescription for anti-inflammatory drugs or some other drugs to help ease your pain.

Exercises:

Doing exercises every time helps strengthen the muscles around the knee, which makes it become stable and decreases the pain, and also helps to keep the knee joint mobile and flexible.

Weight loss:

Knee pain can also be decreased by losing some weight, which can protect you from Osteoarthritis. In addition, losing weight is considered the best Knee pain treatment.

Injection of Steroids or hyaluronic acid into the knee:

Steroids are the most potent anti-inflammatory drugs that help decrease knee inflammation. Hyaluronic acid is found in the joints in the form of lubricant.

Physical Therapy:

A physical therapist can help you perform physical movements to strengthen your muscles and increase plasticity in your joints.

Surgery:

This is the last option when other treatment doesn’t work; you need to go for surgery on your Knee, which is a better option.
